Active COVID-19 cases rise by one in Northern Health

No deaths for sixth day in a row

Active cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health stood at 28, according to B.C. Centre for Disease Control numbers posted Wednesday, up one from the day before.

Two new cases were recorded and one person was in intensive care, unchanged from Tuesday.

The BCCDC says 265,398 doses of vaccine have been administered in the region, up 3,263 from the last report, with 162,569 of them first doses, up by 363, and 102,829 second doses, up by 2,900.

The number does not include doses administered by the First Nations Health Authority. Roughly 290,000 people live in the Northern Health region.

Province-wide, 79.3% (3,674,169) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 47.3% (2,191,315) received their second dose.

There were 639 active COVID cases in B.C. with 65 of them in hospital and 11 in intensive care. 

No new deaths were reported for the sixth straight day.
