Clocked in at 152 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone Thursday just before 9 a.m. RCMP issued a local 24-year-old male driver with a fine of $483 and the pickup he was driving was impounded for seven days.
The offence that took place on a stretch of the Hart Highway was observed by a Prince George RCMP's Municipal Traffic Services member. Temperature at the time was -1 C, RCMP noted.
"This incident is a clear disregard for the safety of all road users, including himself," Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP, said. "Any number of things could have easily caused a serious collision that almost certainly would have caused at least one death. There is no excuse for his actions."
Further penalties may be imposed by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles and/or the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
