TORONTO (AP) — Addison Barger had a career-high four hits, Will Wagner hit a go-ahead two-run double in a four-run sixth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3 on Saturday for their ninth straight home victory.
Tyler Heineman homered and drove in three runs for the Blue Jays. They have won 15 of 19.
Eric Lauer struck out seven in six innings as the AL East-leading Blue Jays won for the 21st time in their past 25 home games. Toronto is 34-16 at home.
Jeff Hoffman finished for his 23rd save in 27 chances.
The Blue Jays trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the sixth against right-hander Logan Webb, but turned it around as five of the first six batters had hits.
Webb (9-7) allowed four runs and a season-high 11 hits in six innings.
Willy Adames hit a pair of solo home runs for the Giants, his 13th and 14th. It was his ninth career multihomer game.
Lauer (5-2) allowed two runs and two hits in six innings. The left-hander retired the first 13 batters in order before Adames homered in the fifth.
MARLINS 3, ROYALS 1
MIAMI (AP) — Otto López hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning and Miami beat Kansas City.
Xavier Edwards tripled and doubled for the Marlins, who won their fourth straight and are 21-10 since June 13. Miami’s Kyle Stowers doubled and had two walks after hitting five homers in the last two games.
Salvador Pérez homered for the Royals’ run.
Graham Pauley drew a leadoff walk against Kansas City reliever Lucas Erceg (4-3) in the eighth before he advanced two bases on Edwards’ double. After Jesús Sánchez was intentionally walked, López hit a drive over left-fielder Nick Loftin to score Pauley and Edwards.
Anthony Bender closed with a perfect ninth for his third save.
REDS 5, METS 2
NEW YORK (AP) — Jake Fraley matched a career high with three hits and drove in two runs as Cincinnati Reds beat New York.
On a festive afternoon at Citi Field, the Mets honored David Wright by retiring his No. 5 jersey and inducting him into the team’s Hall of Fame during a pregame ceremony. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead, too, before Fraley doubled and scored on a two-base throwing error by catcher Luis Torrens in the third inning.
Fraley then delivered a tiebreaking single in the fourth and a run-scoring double in the sixth for the Reds, who moved a season-high five games over .500 at 52-47.
New York’s first two batters reached base in the ninth, but Emilio Pagán pitched out of trouble to earn his 21st save.
PHILLIES 9, ANGELS 5
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and Bryce Harper capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the eighth, carrying Philadelphia to a win over Los Angeles.
Schwarber’s shot to right field off reliever José Fermin was his eighth career grand slam and 32nd homer of the season.
Taylor Ward and Jo Adell hit back-to-back home runs for the Angels in the fourth inning for a 3-1 lead that wouldn’t stand after Los Angeles starter Yusei Kikuchi left after five solid innings.
The Phillies ruined what could have been a big inning in the first, when Schwarber and Trea Turner got caught in rundowns and were tagged out on the same grounder by Harper. Nick Castellanos followed that with a two-out, RBI single for a 1-0 lead.
WHITE SOX 10, PIRATES 4
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mike Tauchman had a go-ahead three-run double in a six-run sixth inning, Lenyn Sosa had three hits and three RBIs and Chicago beat Pittsburgh.
Tauchman gave Chicago a 7-4 lead with the two-out double off Isaac Mattson. The White Sox scored the first four runs of the inning off Caleb Ferguson (2-2), who retired one batter and gave up four hits.
Bryan Reynolds and Nick Gonzales had back-to-back singles leading off the fourth against Adrian Houser. Both scored on a one-out double by Ke’Bryan Hayes, who scored on a two-out single by Isiah Kiner-Falefa to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
Luis Robert Jr. had the first hit off rookie Mike Burrows when he reached on an infield single with one out in the fifth. Robert stole his 24th base before scoring on a single by Sosa. Josh Rojas’ RBI double cut it to 3-2.
RAYS 4, ORIOLES 3
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Chandler Simpson had a tying RBI single and scored the go-ahead run on Ryan O’Hearn’s throwing error in a three-run eighth inning in Tampa Bays’ victory over Baltimore.
Tampa Bay rallied after Seranthony Domínguez replaced Baltimore starter Dean Kremer to begin the eighth inning with the Orioles leading 2-1.
Ha-Seong Kim had a leadoff single and a steal and scored on Simpson’s single to center. Simpson stole second and advanced to third when José Caballero walked on a wild pitch. Caballero stole his 32nd base — tops in the majors — and Gregory Soto replaced Domínguez with the bases loaded. Jonathan Aranda hit a grounder to O’Hearn at first base, but his throw home was off target when Soto crossed his path allowing two to score for a 4-2 lead.
Tyler O’Neill had a one-out double off Scott Fairbanks in the ninth and scored on Cedric Mullins’ two-out single to get Baltimore within a run. Mullins swiped his 14th base before Fairbanks finished it for his 16th save in 19 opportunities.
RANGERS 4, TIGERS 1
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Kumar Rocker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Rowdy Tellez hit a three-run home run in his second game with the Rangers as Texas beat slumping Detroit.
Rocker (4-4) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only Wenceel Pérez’s two-out single in the sixth that was pulled down the first-base line on an 0-2 cut fastball that was low and inside.
The rookie struck out five and walked three, throwing 96 pitches, one shy of his career high.
The Rangers won for the sixth time in their last eight games despite having only four hits. At 50-49, they’re over .500 for the first time since being 25-24 on May 20.
Riley Greene broke up the shutout bid with a ninth-inning home run.
NATIONALS 4, PADRES 2
WASHINGTON (AP) — Nathaniel Lowe homered and Washington snapped a five-game losing streak Saturday with a victory over San Diego.
Mitchell Parker earned his first win at home since May 20 for Washington, which had dropped nine of 10.
Martín Maldonado and Luis Arraez each drove in a run for San Diego (53-45).
Lowe ripped a fastball to center field off reliever Yuki Matsui in the sixth inning for his 15th homer — one shy of his total last year with Texas.
Parker (6-10) allowed two runs in six innings while striking out four. The left-hander had lost seven of his last nine starts, with the only victory in that span coming June 23 at San Diego.
Kyle Finnegan worked the ninth for his 19th save.
ATHLETICS 8, GUARDIANS 2
CLEVELAND (AP) — Shea Langeliers, Jacob Wilson and Nick Kurtz homered in the final two innings to help the Athletics pull away for a victory over Cleveland.
Luis Severino (3-11) gave up three hits in five innings for the win — allowing only José Ramírez’s two-run homer in the third. All three of Severino’s wins have come on the road.
Jack Perkins struck out three in three scoreless innings and Justin Sterner pitched the ninth to close it out.
Nolan Jones had a two-out single off Severino in the third before scoring on Ramírez’s 19th home run for a 2-0 lead. Ramírez is 6 for 14 with four homers against Severino in his career.
Brent Rooker, Kurtz and Langeliers hit three straight doubles to start the fourth against Logan Allen (6-8), tying the score. Miguel Andujar singled for a fourth consecutive A’s hit and a 3-2 lead.
Allen allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
CUBS 6, RED SOX 0
CHICAGO (AP) — All-Star Pete Crow-Armstrong hit his 26th homer, one of five solo shots for the Cubs to back seven sharp innings by Shota Imanaga, and Chicago beat Boston.
Michael Busch, Kyle Tucker, Matt Shaw and Ian Happ also connected for the Cubs, who moved a season-best 20 games over .500 and have the best record in the majors at 59-39.
Imanaga (7-3) allowed five hits, struck out five, walked one and lowered his ERA to 2.40. The 31-year-old, second-year left-hander from Japan improved to 22-6 in the majors.
Busch and Tucker led off the game with back-to-back homers against Brayan Bello (6-4). Shaw had a pinch-hit homer in the seventh against reliever Chris Murphy, and Crow-Armstrong and Happ went back-to-back against Murphy in the eighth.
Brad Keller struck out the side in the eighth and Ryan Brasier worked the ninth for his first save since 2023 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
DIAMONDBACKS 10, CARDINALS 1
PHOENIX (AP) — Eugenio Suárez homered twice, Corbin Carroll had two triples and Arizona cruised to a vctory over St. Louis.
Suárez has five multi-homer games this season, including a four-homer night April 26. Carroll leads the big leagues with 12 triples.
The 34-year-old Suárez is in an intriguing spot as the trade deadline approaches. The All-Star third baseman has 33 homers and is arguably the best power bat on the market, but it’s unclear if the D-backs will be buyers or sellers considering their 49-50 record is still on the fringe of the National League playoff race.
Suarez’s 18 homers since June 1 are the most in the big leagues.
D-backs righty Ryne Nelson (6-2) had a quality start, giving up one run on four hits over six innings.
YANKEES 12, BRAVES 9
ATLANTA (AP) — Trent Grisham hit a tiebreaking grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning and New York rallied from five runs down to beat Atlanta before a crowd of 42,530, the largest this season at Truist Park.
Anthony Volpe homered twice and finished with four RBIs for the Yankees, including a tying shot in the eighth. Cody Bellinger went deep in the seventh to help New York stop a three-game slide.
Braves closer Raisel Iglesias (4-6), who hadn’t given up a run in 15 appearances, allowed a leadoff double to Paul Goldschmidt in the ninth. One out later, Aaron Judge was intentionally walked and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk that loaded the bases.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. lined out to third base, but Grisham drove a 1-1 slider to right-center for a 12-8 lead.
Luke Weaver (2-3) earned the win with 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. Devin Williams gave up a run in the ninth before closing it out.
ROCKIES 10, TWINS 6
DENVER (AP) — Ezequiel Tovar hit a three-run homer to break a fifth-inning tie and Colorado won a home series for the first time since late last season with a victory over Minnesota.
Hunter Goodman had three hits, the last a two-run homer in the eighth, and Ryan McMahon homered for the second straight game. The Rockies also have won two straight home games for the first time this season.
Antonio Senzatela (4-13) gave up three runs in the second inning but faced only one batter over the minimum in the next five, going seven innings for the first time this season.
Senzatela, who leads the major leagues in losses, gave up five hits and struck out three with one walk. He used an economical 78 pitches.
Zebby Matthews (1-2) gave up five runs on eight hits in four-plus innings, leaving after the first two batters reached in the fifth. He was activated from the injured list to make the start after missing six weeks with a strained shoulder.
BREWERS 8, DODGERS 7
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Freddy Peralta won his seventh straight start, Isaac Collins and Joey Ortiz homered, and Milwaukee held off Los Angeles to extend their win streak to nine.
Shohei Ohtani hit his National League-leading 33rd homer and drove in three runs, and Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas each homered in the eighth to pull the Dodgers to 8-7.
But Ohtani’s flyball died on the warning track to end the eighth, and Brewers closer Trevor Megill threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his 23rd save as the Dodgers lost for the ninth time in 11 games.
Peralta (12-4) wasn’t particularly sharp, giving up four runs and five hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked three as his ERA rose from 2.66 to 2.85. But the Brewers tacked on three insurance runs after Peralta departed to maintain the lead.
MARINERS 7, ASTROS 6, 10 INNINGS
SEATTLE (AP) — Rookie second baseman Cole Young hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning to give Seattle a victory over the Houston.
Young — who also delivered a game-ending fielder’s choice in the 11th inning of his major league debut — provided some more late-night theatrics in the Emerald City. Just a couple weeks shy of his 22nd birthday, Young went below the zone to drive a splitter from reliever Hector Neris (3-2) into right field, scoring automatic runner Dominic Canzone from third base.
Though the Mariners jumped out to a 4-1 lead after just three innings, their advantage disappeared once Seattle reliever Carlos Vargas lost control of his sinker in the sixth.
He plunked two batters, first Brice Matthews and then Zack Short, which led to warnings being issued to both benches. Jose Altuve, Victor Caratini and Christian Walker all added RBI singles shortly afterward to put the Astros up 5-4.
The Mariners evened it in the eighth thanks to a fortuitous bounce. Astros reliever Bryan Abreu spiked a slider, allowing Randy Arozarena to score with ease from third base on the wild pitch and ultimately force extra innings.
The teams traded runs in the 10th before Eduard Bazardo (4-0) tossed a scoreless inning to set the stage for Young.
