Tandy, Beaudry back on World Cup trail this week

Rosanna Crawford of Canmore placed 25th Sunday in the BMW IBU World Cup biathlon mass start race, the only Canadian qualifier in the 30-skier event in Oberhof, Germany. Crawford finished three minutes 8.6 seconds behind the winning pace of 37:20.

Crawford finished three minutes 8.6 seconds behind the winning pace of 37:20.5 set by Gabriela Koukalova of the Czech Republic. Simon Schempp of Germany won the men's 15-kilometre mass start race in 38:30.9. No Canadians made the cut for the race.
Crawford was 22nd in Saturday's women's 10km pursuit, won by Marie Dorin Habert of France. Scott Gow of Canmore placed 45th in the men's 12.5km pursuit. Martin Fourcade captured the men's race, his 11th gold medal this season on the World Cup circuit.
In the women's 7.5km sprint race won Friday by Koukalova, Crawford placed 21st, the top Canadian on a list which included two Caledonia Nordic Ski Club members. Megan Tandy and Sarah Beaudry, both of Prince George, were 65th and 85th respectively, while Emma Lunder of Vernon was 87th.
The World Cup tour resumes Thursday in Ruhpolding, Germany, with the men's team relay, followed Friday by the women's relay. Sprint races are scheduled for Saturday and the pursuits follow on Sunday.
