Star Trek's Q commits to Northern FanCon

Prince George's trekkies haven't got a Q. Oh, wait, yes they do.

One of the Star Trek franchise's most bankable characters, the omniscient but temperamental Q, was a hit from his introduction in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Audiences loved the character so strongly Q was written into eight episodes, plus the Deep Space Nine and Voyageur branches of the sci-fi series, and even a large component of the Star Trek book cluster.

Always, the Q character was played by Shakespearean actor and classical musician John de Lancie.

Those familiar with de Lancie's work will also know him from diverse roles like the popular character Eugene on Days Of Our Lives who ended his storyline by walking into a basement never to be seen again; or guest appearances on Breaking Bad and West Wing; the applauded film The Fisher King plus many other movie credits; voice work on animated TV shows (famously for My Little Pony for which he hosted a successful crowd-sourcing campaign to make a documentary about the older male fans who like that franchise) and video games (Assassin's Creed, Planescape: Torment, Quantum Conundrum, etc.).

He also remains faithful to the live theatre stage and also the classical music realm where he has done everything from narrate for symphony shows to direct operas.

De Lancie will be a special live guest in the Barkerville section of Northern FanCon coming up this May, presented by Northland Auto Group, The BC Northern Exhibition and Citizen Special Events.
