The comforts of home brought out the best in high jumper Alyx Treasure.

The 21-year-old Prince George native tied her personal best record when she cleared 1.85 metres in the high jump event at the K-State Invitational meet Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.

It ranks as the fourth-highest high jump this year in NCAA competition. Treasure attends Kansas State University on a track and field scholarship.

The D.P. Todd secondary school graduate started at 1.70 m and cleared that on her first attempt, then needed just one jump at 1.75 m. She got over 1.80 m on her second attempt and posted a clean jump on her second try at 1.85 m. Treasure tried to top that at 1.88 m but was unsuccessful in her three attempts.

Her 1.85m jump ties the personal best Treasure set three weeks ago in Tuscon, Ariz at the Jim Click Shootout meet at the University of Arizona. The Canadian Olympic team standard is 1.92 m.
