Spruce Kings conquered again

The B.C. Hockey League road has not been kind lately to the Prince George Spruce Kings. They suffered a 6-3 defeat Friday night in Coquitlam to finish their trip with three straight losses.

Jackson Cressey led the way for the Express with three goals. The Kings overcame a 2-0 deficit after one period with three unanswered goals to take the lead.

Adam Brubacher connected from the point on a power-play 5:55 into the second and Bryan Basilico tied it with an unassisted effort at the 14:10 mark.

Just 53 seconds into the third period Alex Stoley put the Kings ahead 3-2 but the Express fired right back in rapid order.

Erick Udahl tied it 48 seconds after Stoley's goal and Cressey notched his second of the game to make it 4-3. Cameron Bertsch and Cressey, with his hat-trick goal added to the total late in the game. The Kings outshot the Express 37-30.The Kings started their trip Wednesday in Chilliwack with a 4-0 loss to the Mainland Division leaders, followed Thursday by a 4-1 loss to the Langley Rivermen in Langley. Friday's loss left the Kings with a 7-21-0-2 record, 10 points behind Coquitlam, which improved to 11-11-1-3.

The Kings return to home ice at the Coliseum next week to face Coquitlam on Thursday and take on the Nanaimo Clippers at home next Friday.

LOOSE PUCKS: The Spruce Kings were without captain Jake LeBrun, who broke his collar bone a week ago in game against Salmon Arm. He's expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
