Podium finish for Powers

Reid Powers' outstanding floor routine earned her an individual bronze medal at the Twisters Invitational gymnastics meet in Abbotsford on the weekend.

Powers is a Prince George Gymnastics Club athlete who competed in the Junior Olympic Level 8 category.

She was also ninth on the beam, 14th on the bars and 15th on the vault, which landed her 11th place overall.

Powers' P.G. Gymnastics teammate Hannah Gould brought home a fifth place finish on the bars in Junior Olympic Level 6. She also placed 11th on the vault, 13th on the floor, 17th on the beam and 11th overall.

Mekenna Parker had a powerful vault, landing in eighth place in Junior Olympic Level 8, and a strong bar routine that put her in seventh. She also finished 17th on the floor and 18th on the beam for 18th overall.

Also in Junior Olympic Level 8, Rhiana Palfy had a solid routine on the bars to finish 12th. She was also 16th on the floor and 17th on the beam for 18th overall.

The next meet for local gymnasts is the B.C. championships in North Vancouver from April 10 to 12.
