Four Prince George ball players helped Randy's As of Invermere nail down a top-10 finish at the International Softball Congress world championship over the weekend in Waterloo, Ont.

Evan Potskin, Randy Potskin, Brendon Creyke and Chad Ghostkeeper helped the A's to a 3-2 record, good enough for a ninth-place finish in the 64-team tournament.

The Invermere team was eliminated Thursday night with an 11-3 loss to the New York Gremlins, who went on to finish fourth. The Hill United Chiefs of Six Nations, Ont., beat the Kitchener Twins 3-2 in Sunday's final.

"It's the biggest fastball tournament around, they get players from all over the world there," said Ghostkeeper, who caught every game for the A's.

Invermere started with a 6-4 win over Niagara Falls, then lost 3-0 to Toronto, before reeling off consecutive wins over Midland, Mich. (3-2) and the Kitchener Cubs (4-3).

Korrey Gareau of the A's was named to the All-World second all-star team.

"I thought Evan [Potskin] should have been on the all-world team for sure," said Ghostkeeper. "He hit the ball pretty good. He had four or five home runs."

Pitcher/designated hitter Norm Linton of Prince George played for the NB Petro Hawks of Maple Creek, Sask. The Hawks went 0-2.

In 2008, playing for the SoCal Bombers of Palm Springs, Calif., Ghostkeeper and Evan Potskin advanced to the ISC championship final and lost 8-1 to The Farm Tavern of Madison, Wisc.
