Prince George's Meryeta O'Dine, an Olympic hopeful in snowboard cross, started her World Cup season with a top-five placing in Argentina last weekend.

O'Dine, a 20-year-old who grew up on the slopes of Tabor Mountain, ended up in fourth spot in the race. She finished behind winner Chloe Trespeuch of France, American Lindsey Jacobellis and Nelly Moenne Loccoz, also of France.

The result is one of O'Dine's best to date on the World Cup circuit. Last February, she won bronze at a race in Feldberg, Germany.

O'Dine is part of a five-woman Canadian national team. Three others are also from B.C. - Tess Critchlow of Kelowna, Carle Brenneman of North Vancouver and Katie Anderson of Jaffray - and the group is rounded out by Zoe Bergermann of Erin, Ont.

In her bid to make the Olympic team, O'Dine will be looking for as many top results as possible this season.

The Olympics are Feb. 9-25 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
