The two Prince George Gymnastics Club trampoline specialists made the trek to Montreal this past weekend for Canada Cup Trampoline 2018 and both posted top-five results.

Palfy, 19, tested the springs in the women's Level 5 (17-and-older) double mini trampoline event and finished fifth, while MacDonald, 18, was a third-place finisher in the women's Level 5 individual trampoline and placed fifth in the Level 6 (18-and-older) double mini trampoline event.

Both are gearing up for the Western Canadian championships in Regina, June 1-3. The national championships will follow July 6-8 in Lethbridge.

Last year at the national finals in Oshawa, Ont., MacDonald won silver in the Level 5 individual event and shared team gold as part of the B.C. provincial team. Palfy placed 20th in the double mini competition.

Meanwhile, at the Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational artistic gymnastics meet in Langley last weekend, nine PGGC gymnasts finished in the top five in the overall standings.

Kailey Spencer of Prince George won the Junior Olympic 2 class, finishing first in floor exercise and balance beam, second in the vault and fifth on parallel bars. Not for behind in third place overall was Katana Kenway, who was second in bars and beam, sixth in floor and seventh in vault. Saige Lupul placed fourth overall (third in floor and bars, fifth in beam, eighth in vault), while Madelyn Bauman was fifth overall (fourth in bars, fifth in vault, sixth in beam, 12th in vault).

Abi Popovic, part of the JO2 class, received the Christy Fraser Memorial Award, selected for her positive, determined and supportive attitude. The event and the award are named after Fraser, a 12-year-old Langley gymnast who died of an E.coli infection in 1992. Popovic placed 10th overall in her class. She was eighth in vault and bars, ninth in beam and 10th in floor.

In the Junior Olympic 4 class, Mariana Plata placed fourth overall (first in bars, third in beam, sixth in floor, ninth in vault). Danielle Bobbie posted fifth-place overall marks (third in bars, sixth in beam, eighth in floor, 12th in vault), as did Elizabeth McLeod (third in vault, sixth in bars, seventh in floor, ninth in beam).

In the Junior Olympic 7 class, Dallyn Long placed fifth overall (third in beam, fourth in vault, eighth in floor and bars).
