The Canadian Hockey League has once again recognized the point-producing exploits of Brad Morrison.

The Los Angeles Kings have also taken notice of the 21-year-old Prince George product and have made him part of their organization.

For the second time in six weeks, Morrison has been named player of the week in the CHL, which is formed by the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The CHL has 60 teams, including Morrison's Lethbridge Hurricanes.

For the playoff week ending April 29, Morrison tallied seven points (four goals, three assists) in three games and had a plus-three rating.

Even though the Hurricanes have now been eliminated from the WHL's Eastern Conference final by the Swift Current Broncos - who won the series four games to two - Morrison is currently the leading scorer in the playoffs. In 16 games, he put up 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 points. Chances are, he will remain the scoring leader because the three players directly behind him - Michael Rasmussen and Morgan Geekie of the Tri-City Americans and Lethbridge teammate Jordy Bellerive - are also done for the playoff year. Glenn Gadwin of the Broncos, who will take on the Everett Silvertips in the WHL final, is the closest active player to Morrison and he's 12 points back (nine goals, 16 assists for 25 points).

The six-foot, 171-pound Morrison is the first-two time recipient of the CHL honour during the 2018 playoffs. A fourth-round draft pick of the New York Rangers in 2015 (113th overall), he went unsigned and was therefore a free agent. The Kings were obviously paying attention to his spectacular play of late because they signed him to an entry-level NHL contract on Tuesday.

Morrison was originally a first-round WHL bantam draft selection of the Prince George Cougars. He played four seasons with the Cats before moving on to the Vancouver Giants and then the Hurricanes. He finished his WHL career with 263 points (112 goals, 151 assists) in 334 regular-season games.
