For the last time this season, the Prince George Spruce Kings have loaded up the bus for a trip to a B.C. Hockey League destination.

The Spruce Kings are in Wenatchee, Wash., the next two nights to play the expansion Wild, whose fortunes as a first-year team have far exceeded expectations.

The Wild (29-15-2-3, second in Mainland Division) clinched a playoff spot several weeks ago and will play either the Langley Rivermen or Coquitlam Express in the first round of playoffs.

Wenatchee is five points ahead of Langley for second spot in the Mainland, which would guarantee home-ice advantage to start the playoffs.

The Spruce Kings (12-35-3-1, fifth in Mainland) are out of playoff contention and have seven games left this season. Following Saturday's game in Wenatchee, the Spruce Kings will head back to Canada to play the Express in Coquitlam Sunday afternoon (2 p.m. start).

The Spruce Kings return home to Rolling Mix Concrete Arena next Thursday to play Langley, and also host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday, Feb. 18.

The Kings finish their schedule at home against the Surrey Eagles, Feb. 27-28.
