Kings d-man Anderson going to NCAA

Tyler Anderson knows now where he's going to be playing hockey next season.

The 20-year-old Prince George Spruce Kings defenceman has signed a letter of agreement to attend Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., on an athletic scholarship

Anderson, 20, has thrived since he joined the Spruce Kings in a trade from the West Kelowna Warriors six games into the season last September. He leads all BCHL defenceman with 17 goals and has 44 points in 53 games. All 17 goals and all but two of his points came in the 47 games he's been played for the Spruce Kings.

Heading into Thursday's game against West Kelowna, the six-foot-two, 190-pound native of Niverville, Man., is the BCHL penalty minute leader, with 101 minutes through 53 games,.

Anderson will join former Kings forward Bryan Basilico on the Lakers team next season playing in the NCAA Division 1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Anderson and Basilico were teammates last year in the BCHL with the West Kelowna Warriors, helping the Warriors win the RBC Cup as national junior A hockey champions.
