Thirteen-year-old Hayden Wolff is drawing triple duty racing three motocross classes this season.

With two bikes to keep running smoothly that means he and his chief mechanic, his father Devin, won't have a lot of downtime between races.

Last weekend on the Prince George Motocross Association circuit in Quesnel, Wolff won 11 of his 12 races competing in the junior MX2 (125cc and 250cc), junior MX3 (up to 450cc) and schoolboy classes. The only thing that spoiled a perfect weekend was a broken clutch that knocked Wolff out two laps into his 12th race.

"It's actually been a really good season so far, I'm doing way better than I did last year," said Wolff, a Grade 8 student at College Heights secondary school.

Wolff has been spending more time in the gym and has discovered the benefits of CrossFit high-intensity interval training. He said his off-track workouts have played a major role in advancing his riding skills and have helped him endure the physical effects of racing three classes.

Wolff's ability to handle horsepower has already earned him the attention of Kawasaki and in July the company is flying him down to the Milestone motocross track in Riverside, Calif., where he'll get to test the new 2015 KX series bikes and offer his feedback to the manufacturer.

"This just came out of the blue," said Wolff. "It's going to be a fun experience down there. I've watched some GoPro videos of the track on YouTube and it looks pretty cool.

"I've ridden my new bike and it handles great, it would be pretty hard to beat."

Last season Wolff followed the footsteps of Prince George riders Landon Nelson and Jesse Pettis as the top pointgetter in the Team Green (Kawasaki) Rider Support program and was awarded $3,000 in cash and a new 2013 KX 250 bike. Nelson won the award in 2011, followed by Pettis in 2012. Pettis was also picked by Kawasaki to test bikes in California.

The PGMA series started in April in Ashcroft and will return to Quesnel for racing next weekend. That event was originally slated for Williams Lake but had to be moved due to lingering snow on the Williams Lake track.

Wolff plans to be racing on his home track May 24-25 when the Prince George club hosts its first races of the season at Blackwater Motocross Park, 30 kilometres southwest of the city off Blackwater Road near West Lake. The PGMA series also stops in Terrace, Kamloops and Chetwynd.

Blackwater will be the site of B.C.Motocross Association championship series races, Aug. 30-31. In July and August the Prince George club will begin its third season of Tuesday night races at Blackwater for different two classes.

The club is hosting a work bee this Sunday starting at 11 a.m. to put up fencing and signs and use heavy equipment to dig up the clay soil that packs hard on the track. Club volunteers revamped the track last fall , installing a 40-bike start gate, a staging area for riders, and a viewing platform for lap counters.
