Hoskins hot at Big White

Jacob Hoskins may just have a new favourite hill.

Hoskins and a selection of his Prince George Alpine Ski Club teammates were at Kelowna's Big White Ski Resort for the Under-12 interzone championships last weekend. With athletes from all over B.C. in attendance, Hoskins posted several top-10 results. His best finish was a second-place showing in a Sunday slalom race. As well, Hoskins had a fourth- and a fifth-place finish during Saturday's giant slalom competition and ended up 10th in a panelled slalom race.

Other locals on their skis for the races were Ella Francis, Isabelle Lindsay, Zoe Pohl, Isaac Hausot and Jack Logan. Results were as follows: Francis: 26th and 22nd in giant slalom, 28th in panelled slalom, 28th in slalom; Lindsay: 29th and 37th in giant slalom, 38th in panelled slalom, 38th in slalom; Pohl: 31st and 36th in giant slalom, 37th in panelled slalom, 37th in slalom; Hausot: 23rd in both giant slalom runs, 28th in panelled slalom, 27th in slalom; Logan: 31st in both giant slalom races and 34th in panelled slalom.

The U-12 skiers will be at Sun Peaks Resort this weekend for the Hub International Sun Peaks Festival. Meanwhile, U-14 team members Charlotte Gibson and Melinda Kobasiuk will compete at provincials, being held at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland. Finally, U-16 skiers Isabelle Gibson and Lucas Gairns will be in action at the CanAms at Invermere's Panorama Mountain Village.
