Comets clobber Northern Capitals

The Northern Capitals are on the brink of elimination.

They lost 9-1 Friday night to the Greater Vancouver Comets in Coquitlam in Game 1 of the best-of-three B.C. Female Triple-A Hockey League championship series.

Game details were not available on the league website.

The Comets can wrap up the series today in Game 2 in Coquitlam (1:15 p.m. start). If a third game is required it would be played Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Capitals are the two-time defending league champions.

The Prince George-based Capitals (14-13-3) finished third in the league, 27 points behind the Comets (29-1-0), who captured the regular season title.
