The Okanagan Rockets got their revenge.
Less than a day after they allowed the Cariboo Cougars to score a last-minute goal which decided who got the 'W,' the Rockets were ready for their second chance against the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League frontrunners Sunday morning in Kelowna.
The Rockets built a three-goal lead in the second period and hung on to defeat the Cougars 4-2, which moved the second-place Rockets (15-4-0-1) back to within four points of Cariboo (17-2-1-0) atop the BCHMML standings.
Max Kryski and Wyatt Head each scored two goals to spark the Rockets in Sunday's game. Coleton Bilodeau and Rayman Basse each collected two assists. For the Cougars, Tyler Maser and Darian Long were the goalscorers, both while their team was on the power play.
Marcus Allen took the loss in net for Cariboo.
In the first game of the weekend series on Saturday, Daine Dubois scored his second goal of the game with just 34 seconds left in the third period to give the Cougars a 4-3 victory. Devin Sutton and Mason Richey also scored for Cariboo.
Bilodeau had a goal and an assist to lead the Rockets. Mitchell Gove and Jeffrey Karpovich also managed to beat Cougars goalie Zach Wickson. Owen Patrick played both weekend games in goal for the Rockets.
The shot count was not recorded on the league website for either game.
The Cougars will be back on Kin 1 ice Saturday (3:45 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.) to face the Kootenay Ice.
The Cougars will wrap up the 2016 half of their schedule Dec. 17-18 in Nanaimo against the North Island Silvertips before they head to Calgary for the Mac's Tournament, which starts Dec. 26.
