Hinks conquers Ogopogo

Jaymie Hinks capped her gymnastics season with a strong performance at the Ogopogo Invitational in Kelowna on the weekend. Hinks, from the Prince George Gymnastics Club, posted a second all-around finish in the Junior Olympic 7 category.

Hinks, from the Prince George Gymnastics Club, posted a second all-around finish in the Junior Olympic 7 category. Individually, she placed first on balance beam, second on vault, fifth on the floor routine and ninth on the uneven bars. Mekenna Parker also had an excellent meet. In Junior Olympic 8, she was at her best on the vault and floor, events in which she placed second. She was also sixth on the bars and seventh on the beam for a fifth all-around finish.

In the Class Competition Program, meanwhile, Alia Wilson returned to action after her recovery from a broken hand and finished fifth all-around. Her best two individual events were uneven bars (second) and floor routine (ninth). With her performance, Wilson qualified for the Western Canada Summer Games, Aug. 7-16 in Wood Buffalo.

In other results, Rhiana Palfy and Reid Powers (Junior Olympic 8) placed third on floor and eighth on balance beam, respectively. Kayla Hanson (Junior Olympic 6) was second on vault. In the same category, Madison Boomhower placed 10th on balance beam and floor, and Madeline Temoin was eighth on vault.
