EDGEPRo Sports and Entertainment Ltd., the group that owns the Western Hockey League's Prince George Cougars, announced Monday night it will not be renewing the contract of general manager Todd Harkins.

No other details were made available.

Eric Brewer, a former defenceman for the Cougars and an ex-NHLer who is part of EDGEPRo, will speak on the matter on Tuesday.

Harkins had been with the Cougars organization for five seasons, the past four as general manager.

The Cougars finished their 2017-18 season on Saturday night at CN Centre with a 6-5 shootout loss to the Kamloops Blazers. The Cats posted an overall record of 24-38-5-5, a mark that put them last in the B.C. Division and 21st out of the 22 WHL teams.

In 2016-17, the Cougars won their first-ever B.C. Division championship with a record of 45-21-3-3 but then lost in the first round of playoffs to the Portland Winterhawks.
