Prince George Cougars forwards Jansen Harkins and Jared Bethune are among 59 WHL players rated by NHL Central Scouting as draft-eligible players to watch.
The NHL's November watch list also includes Prince George Spruce Kings forward Brogan O'Brien.
Harkins, 17, is considered an A-prospect, projected as a first-round pick in the NHL draft in June. Now in his second WHL season playing centre, the six-foot-one, 180-pound Harkins leads the Cougars in scoring with 26 points in 24 games.
Bethune, 17, joined the Cougars in October from the USHL. In 14 games as a WHL rookie the six-foot, 185-pound left winger has three goals and four assists. Bethune is listed as a B-prospect, likely to be taken in the second or third round of the draft.
O'Brien, a 17-year-old Prince George native, is considered a C-prospect for the draft, set for June 27-28 in Philadelphia. The six-foot-two, 195-pound O'Brien has two goals and six assists for eight points in 25 games this season playing centre for the Spruce Kings.
Harkins is one of eight A-prospects now playing in the WHL. The list includes C Mathew Barzal (Seattle Thunderbirds), LW Paul Bittner (Portland Winterhawks), D Brandon Carlo (Tri-City Americans), D Ivan Provorov (Brandon Wheat Kings), F Nick Merkley (Kelowna Rockets), and LW Jake DeBrusk and C Glenn Gawdin, both of the Swift Current Broncos.
