Anna MacDonald was the best of the aerial artists.

The Prince George Gymnastics Club member competed at last weekend's Kamloops Trampoline Provincial Cup and placed first overall on the apparatus. MacDonald also displayed her talents on the double-mini trampoline and finished an impressive fifth.

Four other local gymnasts - Rachel Massey, Rhiana Palfy, Kayla Hanson and Emma Sands - also attended the meet.

Massey had a solid showing with a third-place finish on trampoline and a ninth on double-mini. As well, she competed in tumbling and ended up 12th.

Other results were as follows: Palfy - ninth on trampoline, seventh on double-mini; Hanson - 10th on trampoline, ninth on double mini; Sands - 11th on trampoline, 10th on double-mini.

The trampoline event ran in conjunction with the Kamloops Wild West-fest artistic gymnastics meet, which had several P.G. gymnasts in action. At the Wild West-fest, Prince George's Kaydence Bellerive shone the brightest with a first all-around placing in the Junior Olympic 4 (2005-06) category. Individually, she was second on vault, second on uneven bars, second on floor routine and fourth on balance beam.

Other highlights were provided by: Aimee Fournier, who placed second all-around in Junior Olympic 3; Hanna Piddocke, who was second all-around in Junior Olympic 7; Ella Petrovicky, who finished third all-around in Junior Olympic 4 (2005-06); Danielle Bobbie, who was third all-around in Junior Olympic 4 (2007-08); Morgan McLachlan, who finished third all-around in Junior Olympic 4 (2008-09); Mateya Harvey, who placed third all-around in Junior Olympic 6; and Madison Willier, who was third overall in Junior Olympic 7.

The next event for local gymnasts is March 23-25 in Abbotsford. The meet will double as trials for the Western Canadian championships, April 26-29 in Spruce Grove, Alta.
