So far, so good for the Prince George Farr Fabricating Cougars.

They racked up a pair of wins Friday, opening day of the Crossroads Cup at the Kin Centre.

The Cougars needed a comeback in the third period to overcome a 3-2 deficit and scored three unanswered goals to beat Maple Leaf Athletic Club of Edmonton 5-3 Friday morning at Kin 2.

Lee Livingstone scored two goals for Farr, notching the winner with about five minutes left in the third period. He also scored into an empty net. Carter Yarish had the tying goal for the Cougars. Jaydon Merritt and Fischer O'Brien, whose brother Brogan plays in the WHL for the Prince George Cougars, also found the net.

In the afternoon game, the Cougars defeated the Yellowknife (N.W.T.) Wolfpack 9-0.

"They kind of ran out of steam, it was 3-0 at the half," said Cougars head coach Mirsad Mujcin, a native of Yellowknife who played three seasons as a WHL centre with the Tri-City Americans and Regina Pats, from 1991-93.

Yarish ended up with three goals and two assists in that game and Dan Sturgeon picked up the shutout. Sturgeon was called into service midway through the morning game as an injury replacement for Kenny Gerow.

The 10-team tournament resumes today at Kin 3 and Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

The Cougars' next game is today at 9:30 a.m. at Kin 3 against Hollyburn of North Vancouver. Mujcin said his team will be looking to avenge a loss to Hollyburn earlier this season. Prince George plays Delta at 2 p.m. at Kin 3.

Semifinals will be played Sunday, starting at 6 a.m. at RMCA and 7:15 a.m. at CN Centre. The winners will meet in the championship game at 11:45 at CN Centre.
