Cougars choose Calgary blueliner

The Prince George Cougars went back to the blueline with their eighth-round pick in the Western Hockey League bantam draft.

The Cats selected right-shooting defenceman Eric Parker, who was a member of the Calgary Bisons this season. In 35 games, he had one goal and 19 assists. At almost five-foot-nine and 133 pounds, Parker is slight of build.

The Cougars got Parker 164th overall.

The Cats started the day by taking goaltender Taylor Gauthier in the first round. With their second- and third-round picks, they chose defencemen Cole Beamin and Jack Michell. Then came a string of forwards - Keegan Craik, Jesse Mistelbacher, Edge Lambert and Zachary Bolton.
