Condors, Eagles both win

With the narrowest of wins, the Duchess Park Condors moved to 1-1 at the boys triple-A high school basketball provincial championship tournament in Langley on Thursday.

With the narrowest of wins, the Duchess Park Condors moved to 1-1 at the boys triple-A high school basketball provincial championship tournament in Langley on Thursday.

Duchess Park, ranked 14th in the 16-team tournament, edged sixth-seeded Charles Hays of Prince Rupert 75-74.

Next up for the Condors – who fell 77-58 to third-seeded Byrne Creek of Burnaby on Wednesday – is a game against No. 7 Nanaimo District on Friday afternoon.

At the single-A girls tournament in Duncan, the Cedars Christian School Eagles lost their Wednesday opener 47-43 to Surrey Christian but bounced back with a Thursday victory against Kimberley's Selkirk, 50-46. The Eagles will tip off against St. Ann's of Kamloops on Friday.

Championship games in both tournaments are set for Saturday.
