Condor Classic hitting court

The first local senior boys and senior girls high school basketball tournament of the season tips off on Thursday at Duchess Park secondary school. The annual Condor Classic will get going at 3 p.m. with a pair of games.

The first local senior boys and senior girls high school basketball tournament of the season tips off on Thursday at Duchess Park secondary school.

The annual Condor Classic will get going at 3 p.m. with a pair of games. In the boys division, the host Condors will take on the College Heights Cougars. Meanwhile, on the girls side of the draw, the Kelly Road Roadrunners will meet the Smithers Gryphons.

At 4:45 p.m., the Duchess girls and College Heights girls will renew an ever-growing rivalry. At the same time, the D.P. Todd Trojans and Kelly Road boys teams will battle for bragging rights.

Other Thursday games are set for 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Other boys teams are Correlieu, Nechako Valley, PGSS and the Duchess Park juniors. The girls draw is rounded out by Northside, Smithers, Correlieu and Nechako Valley.

Games resume Friday at 8 a.m. and will go all day.
