The Prince George Cougars open the 2015-16 WHL season at home with a two-game weekend series against the Everett Silvertips.

The Cougars will play eight of their first nine games at CN Centre and all but two of those games, Oct. 20-21, when they host Calgary on a Tuesday and Wednesday, will be played on weekends.

Fans will get used to seeing the Cats at home ice a lot more often on weekends this season -- 25 of their 36 home dates are on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Just 19 of the 36 home games were weekend games last season.

The longest road trip is in January. The Cats travel to Saskatchewan to play Swift Current, Jan. 29, then play in Moose Jaw (Jan. 30), Saskatoon (Feb. 2), Prince Albert (Feb. 3), Brandon (Feb. 5) and Regina (Feb. 6), returning to Prince George for a two-game series against Kelowna, May 12-13.

The season ends in March with a home-and-home weekend set against the Kamloops Blazers, Friday, March 18 in Kamloops and Saturday, March 19 at CN Centre.

The Cougars' six-game preseason starts Sept. 4 in Kamloops, followed by a date the following night in Kelowna. The Cats then cross the border into the U.S. for games in Kennewick, Wash., against Portland (Sept. 9 and 10), and Everett (Sept. 10).

The only home preseason game happens during the Vancouver Canucks' training camp at CN Centre, Saturday, Sept. 18 when the Cats host the Blazers.
