Brett Bulmer has signed a new contract with the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild.

Bulmer is a six-foot-three, 215-pound right-winger from Prince George. He finalized a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild on Sunday.

"Obviously whenever you sign with an NHL team, it's big," the 23-year-old said Monday from Kelowna, where he lives and trains in the off-season. "But, that being said, I feel like I have a lot to prove still. I want to go in and have a good year and take that next step to play full-time up there."

The Wild selected Bulmer in the second round (39th overall) in the 2010 NHL draft. In 14 career games with the Wild, he has three assists and eight penalty minutes.

Last season, Bulmer had four goals, 12 assists and 50 penalty minutes in 50 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League. In 145 career AHL games, he has notched 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists).

Bulmer grew up playing hockey in Prince George and spent two seasons with the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League's Cariboo Cougars. He then advanced to the major-junior level, spending four seasons with the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets.
