The Prince George Lomak Knights are going to the final.
They knocked off the previously undefeated Tsawwassen Dodgers 9-2 in a semifinal game Sunday afternoon at Citizen Field and will face the Ladner Red Sox in today's BC Baseball double-A midget provincial final.
Dustin Aldana held the Dodgers to just six hits through 6 2/3 innings and Joseph JenVenne came in to record the final out.
Back-to-back doubles in the second inning from Craig Budskin and Dylan Lukinchuk, followed by a single from Aldana triggered a four-run second inning. The Knights got two more in the third inning, one in the fourth, and two in the sixth to eliminate the Dodgers, who came in with a perfect 4-0 record.
The Knights were forced to play a tiebreaker early Sunday morning and behind the pitching of Ajay Nickolet they pasted the Campbell River Tyees 13-3. The Tyees had beaten the Knights 7-3 earlier the 10-team tournament.
Ladner was tied 6-6 in the fifth inning in their semifinal at Rotary Field against the Vancouver Expos but exploded with 10 runs over the final two innings to book themselves a spot in the final, which is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
