B.C. earns first team medal

B.C. earned its first team medal Sunday when they took the bronze in women's gymnastics. The event at UNBC included floor exercise, uneven bars, the beam and the vault.

B.C. earned its first team medal Sunday when they took the bronze in women's gymnastics.

The event at UNBC included floor exercise, uneven bars, the beam and the vault.

The team consists of six athletes, including captain Clair Kaji, 16 (Vancouver; Seina Cho, 14 (Coquitlam); Haley de Jong, 14 (Port Coquitlam); Ilka Juk, 11 (Vancouver); Shallon Olsen, 14 (Surrey); and Itzia San Roman, 17 (Burnaby).

The team placed second in vault, third in floor exercise and uneven bars and fourth in the beam.

Quebec took the gold and Ontario took silver.

Olsen, Kaji, and San Roman have qualified for the women's all around event, which takes place on Tuesday.

The men's team event gets underway Monday at 5:30 p.m.
