    Venue: Fort George Park

Celebrate Canada Festival -- July 1

The Celebrate Canada Festival (formerly known as FOLKFEST) has been an annual event in Prince George since 1974.

Come and join our fantastic outdoor birthday party which is held in beautiful historical Fort George Park. The park encompasses approximately 74 acres and is located in the south-east portion of the city, overlooking the Fraser River. Access to the park from either 17th or 20th Avenue off Queensway.

An estimated 12,000 adults and children attend the festival annually.

Opening ceremonies start at noon and include the serving of a huge 4' x 8' birthday cake.

The main stage offers 7 hours of non-stop performances including a wide variety of culturally diverse entertainers.

Ethnic food concessions offer a variety of dishes from around the world.

Visit the ancient native cemetery, shop at the craft fair or take a ride on a miniature railway train. Kids of all ages can participate at the children's activity centre which offers hands-on craft making and face painting, drop a person in the dunk tank, or hug one of the many mascots wandering the grounds.

No admission is charged to attend this family-oriented event. Picnic coolers are permitted but no alcohol is allowed on site.

The Festival concludes at 7 p.m. For more information call: The Multicultural Heritage Society at: 250-563-8525
