TORONTO - Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's city councillor brother says he will not be seeking a seat in the provincial legislature in the next Ontario election.
Rather, Doug Ford says he is going to focus on the Oct. 27 municipal election, as he is going to be his brother's campaign manager.
Coun. Ford has long mused about running provincially, and says he still wants to in the future, but in the coming months he can't "wear two hats."
Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak has said he wants an election as soon as possible and the prospect of a spring election hangs in the air at the Ontario legislature.
Doug Ford wouldn't directly say if Hudak wanted him to run, but said the Fords are "part of the PC family" and he has "never heard anything different."
Hudak said earlier this week when asked if he would sign Doug Ford's nomination papers that he won't talk about potential candidates, but is happy to talk about people who are candidates.
Doug Ford says he will not seek re-election as a city councillor, but "maybe" another Ford will run to replace him.
