With all due respect Margit Strobl, your letter "Brush up on the Facts" needs tweaking. It clearly states, "The repeated topical application of fluoride bathing the teeth to strengthen and prevent tooth decay...." is the most important effect of fluoridated water. (This should read, fluoridated treatment to be accurate.) Dentists give pharmaceutical grad fluoride to swish in the mouth, then spit out, not swallow. Also, toothpaste boxes clearly state do not swallow the fluoridated toothpaste.
Prince George's water system is filled with fluoride derived from fertilizer production in Alberta. This "fluoride" is an industrial waste by- product that is highly toxic to people no matter how diluted it is, when ingested.
Topical means applied only to the outside. We are all forced to drink this industrial waste by-product in the Prince George drinking water. This is called "ingesting." This is the opposite of topical application.
Go to the dentist for topically applied pharmaceutical grade fluoride. Citizens of Prince George will only have a choice when hydrofluorosilicic acid is removed from our city water. Please don't cloud the issue by mixing up the facts. Research clearly shows the damage of ingesting fluoride added to drinking water. Chemical cocktail anyone? I think not!
