Asking about that missing money

I noticed on your "Timeline for Development of Whistler- Blackcomb" article, page 11 of the August 9th edition, that there is no mention of the B.C. government's injected bailout funds, (just before or after the Olympics - I can't remember exactly).

I noticed on your "Timeline for Development of Whistler- Blackcomb" article, page 11 of the August 9th edition, that there is no mention of the B.C. government's injected bailout funds, (just before or after the Olympics - I can't remember exactly).

This was anywhere from $1 billion to $1.4 billion to the privately-owned ski resort. Did this money just disappear in the books? Or are we taxpayers now shareholders about to profit from this private transaction? And will the money be used to pay down the ever-increasing provincial debt, not deficit, which is a really irrelevant term as most folks know from personal experience?

Perhaps we could use some of the money being spent to sell the past fifteen years of fictitious balanced budgets to pay down the constantly increasing debt? Is this government too stupid to realize that the only way they have a true balanced budget is to have expenditures, (and increasing debt is an expenditure), equal revenue coming in? Or more likely are they just acting like the taxpayers are stupid?

Many of us seniors just pay all our bills, (interest and debt servicing costs included), with little or nothing left over but at least our overall debt isn't increasing. The government should redirect their thinking and advertising to hopefully, sometime in the near future, finally reach this balanced budget point.
