AR-15 no different than grampa’s old gun

In reply to Robert Clayton's letter regarding the AR-15, what do you think the petition was asking for? They were asking that the AR-15 be legal to hunt with. Just like the numerous other semi auto rifles that are available to hunt with.

Just like the numerous other semi auto rifles that are available to hunt with. Yes it is one of the most popular rifles sold today. Should people not be allowed to hunt with it because it's popular? Sounds silly. Almost as silly as not letting people hunt with it simply because it looks like its military cousin, but performs like grandpa's old semi-auto rifle. Why the added restrictions for a rifle that performs no differently than so many non-restricted rifles?

I would imagine that throwing grenades would be a cost prohibitive pastime for most of us. That said, just like we have found a way to safely shoot guns at gun ranges, I'm sure that we could find a safe place to throw hand grenades. There are rules around transporting guns. I'm sure we can create rules for you and your grenades if that's what you're in to.

I don't want to see anyone doing archery or throwing horse shoes on Bay Street either. Yet we found a safe way to allow those sports. Remember that Canadians are only allowed to hunt in regulated areas. Legalizing the AR seems like a safe option. They are already being shot at gun ranges.

Why not in the back country too?

Mr. Zimmer may be from Prince George, but he's every Canadian's MP. It is a federal issue that Mr. Zimmer is addressing which is what he was elected to do. Mr. Zimmer took on an issue that is important to some Canadians. If you have an issue that you would like him to address, write him a letter.
