An excavator allegedly stolen in Fort St. John has been recovered in Prince George and a local man has been arrested in connection with the incident, Prince George RCMP said Wednesday.

After receiving a report Sunday from the RCMP in the community of 20,268 people 476 kilometres northeast of Prince George that the machine may be in this city, general duty members spotted one matching the description on a Gogolin Road property off Westwood Drive.

After it was seized, the John Deere-brand excavator was later confirmed stolen from an address on 93rd Street in Fort St. John sometime over the weekend, RCMP said.

A 27-year-old Prince George man was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 17. His name was not released.
