The men and women who handle the administration of your business - everyone from telephone answerers to boardroom support, from front-line accounting to human resources, from clerical staff to personal assistants - have a special occasion all their own.

Administrative Professionals Week (it used to be Secretaries Day but companies found this too limiting, especially in the age of multidisciplinary office staff) starts this coming week, and the key day is Wednesday.

The theme this year for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce is When Flowers Aren't Enough.

"This year, local businesses may send their administrative professional staff to an appreciation breakfast event on Administrative Professionals Day," said Chamber spokesperson Jennifer Brandle-McCall. "Guests will enjoy a buffet breakfast and special presentation entitled Make the Leap to Remarkable by keynote speaker Tasha Moodley, a certified professional coach and human resources consultant."

Any business or corporation can book their administrative supporters a seat by calling the Prince George Chamber at 250-562-2454 or visiting the Chamber website under the 'Events' tab: www.pgchamber.bc.ca. Cost is $35 each for Chamber member businesses, $40 for non-members.

According to the Chamber, Moodley gets centre stage on this special day because she is skilled at opening your admin staff's minds on taking their professionalism to the next level.

"Her clients report significant and long lasting transformations that can be felt in all areas of their life," said Brandle-McCall. "This is an annual celebration meant to highlight the important role of administrative professionals in all sectors of the modern economy worldwide. It is widely recognized as an opportunity to show appreciation to administrative staff for the important and often under-recognized work they do throughout the year."

The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Civic Centre. After that, your administrative professionals will be free to return to work. Feel free to have flowers ready for them upon their return.
