A small, but enthusiastic, crowd lined up to meet and get autographs from actor Ron Perlman at the B.C. Northern Exhibition on Saturday morning.

Approximately 40 people lined up to meet Perlman, who plays Clay Morrow on the TV show Sons of Anarchy and starred as comic book hero Hellboy in the films Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

"He's a fantastic actor. I'm a huge fan of [Sons of Anarchy]," Leah Soghlan said.

Soghlan was one of the first people in line, and said she was excited to add a second signature to her Sons of Anarchy poster. She previously got the poster signed by Kim Coates, who plays Alexander 'Tig' Trager on the show, when he was in Prince George on June 21.

Amanda Holoien said she was still shaking after meeting Perlman.

"It was amazing," she said. "He was a sweetheart."

Perlman's appearance was a promotional event for the upcoming Northern Fancon -a comic and pop culture convention coming to Prince George this spring. Northern Fancon is promoted by the B.C. Northern Exhibition and Citizen Special Events, and sponsored by Northland Dodge.

"I'm happy Prince George is bringing cool people to town to meet," fan Elaine Cooper said. "I'm the biggest fan of Sons of Anarchy."

Lyle Durrand drove up from Quesnel to meet Perlman and take in the Alice in Chains concert on Sunday.

Durrand said he's a big fan of Sons of Anarchy and Perlman's movies, including Pacific Rim.

What brought Kim Mitchell to the BCNE was one of Perlman's early starring roles as Vincent, the beast from the Beauty and the Beast TV series that ran from 1987 to 1990.

"I was, like, five [years old when the show debuted]. I was going to marry him one day," she said. "I'm super pumped. There was no way I was going to miss this."

Mitchell said a friend of hers met Perlman on a cruise several years ago and got a photo with him, and now she'll have one of her own.

Perlman won a Golden Globe for his role in the show.

Father and daughter Ben and Kristin Crooks made attending the event a family affair. Kristin got a Sons of Anarchy hoodie for her son, Ben's grandson.

"I'm excited to get the photo with him," Ben said.

Perlman was unavailable for interviews.
