Former Prince George mayor Dan Rogers will be unveiled tonight as a new member of an Okanagan neighbourhood.

Rogers has accepted a position with the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce as general manager, effective April 22.

After serving on city council 1993 to 2005, Rogers was defeated in a tight race against incumbent mayor Colin Kinsley. In 2008 he ran again and defeated fellow council veteran Don Zurowski. He was unseated as mayor by Shari Green in 2011.

Since leaving public office, Rogers has run his own communications and marketing consulting business, served as marketing director for the Carbon Offset Aggregation Co-op, and volunteered with a variety of community groups.

"I am eager to work with the Chamber's board in helping the business community grow and prosper," Rogers said, in a press release. "I also look forward to working with Chamber members and collaborating with other community organizations, to build a stronger Chamber and community."

Rogers is replacing outgoing manager George Duffy, who is returning to the commercial sector.

Chamber president Adrian Johnson said the organization "conducted a thorough search for the right individual and are thrilled to be able to bring Dan's talent to Greater Vernon."

"We looking forward to welcoming Dan and his young family to the Okanagan," Johnson added.
