The search for a man missing in Ness Lake has been postponed by the Prince George RCMP.

"We're hoping conditions improve or other arrangements can be made," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass.

On July 17, a 29-year-old Prince George resident dove from a boat on the lake to reach his young son who was swimming with flotation device but had drifted a short distance away.

The man and a friend were able to get the child back in the boat, but the father - who wasn't wearing a floatation device - sank under water and didn't resurface.

Witnesses, Prince George Search and Rescue and the RCMP's Underwater Recovery team conducted searches of the lake and area but have been unable to locate him.
