The College of New Caledonia is about to sign agreements in India that may lead to overseas learning opportunities and boost international enrollment.

CNC president Henry Reiser is currently in India to meet with officials and to sign memorandums of understanding with two higher learning institutions: Narayana Health - a teaching hospital in Bangalore - and OP Jindal University in Raigarh.

The memos will be signed later this month and will include tentative five-year agreements to develop study abroad and international exchange programs, and professional development opportunities for instructors and employees.

CNC's health sciences and power engineering programs are expected to benefit especially from the partnerships, with collaborative research projects, lectures and seminars planned for these program areas specifically.

"Opening our doors to students, teachers and ideas from India enriches B.C.'s economy and communities," said Advanced Education Minister Amrik Virk. "The College of New Caledonia is embracing opportunities for research and development activities that will enable people from British Columbia and India to learn from each other."
