The YMCA's annual road race is no more.

The event will not be held this year, the Y said in a website posting, ending a 31-year tradition. The event has featured five-kilometre, 10-kilometre and half-marathon distances and has coincided with Healthy Kids Day since 2008.

"It is after great deliberation that due to increased costs and falling race participation that our efforts for the community be better served in supporting and growing our community wide Healthy Kids Day; a day of free activities rooted in the desire to support all families in learning, growing and connecting."

Healthy Kids Day is set for Sunday, May 6 at Canada Games Plaza, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
