A portion of Brink Forest Products remained shut down Wednesday as two WorkSafe B.C. officers continued their investigation following an accident involving a log chipper that left an employee seriously injured.

"The officers continue the process of collecting data, including interviews, and inspection of the log chipper," WorkSafe B.C. spokesman Scott McCloy said. "It is possible that this phase of the investigation will conclude on Thursday, but that depends on the progress of the investigation."

Investigators were called to the scene Tuesday following the accident, which occurred at about 4:50 a.m.

McCloy declined to provide details on employee's injuries, citing privacy concerns, but did say the employee was taken to hospital.

All three buildings at the River Road site were closed down Tuesday but two have since been reopened. The building containing the wood chipper remained closed, McCloy said.
