Two men were arrested after an RCMP vehicle was rammed with an allegedly stolen pickup truck and the culprits led police on a chase in the Central Fort George neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Garth Andrew Lee, 24, of Prince George, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, flight from police and driving while prohibited.

Tyler James Edgars, 22, of Prince Rupert, faces one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Police said the vehicle, reported stolen, was seen being driving on 12th Avenue near Harper Street at about 3:30 p.m. When officers attempted to pull the pickup over, the driver rammed a police vehicle and fled the scene, RCMP said.

A few minutes later, the truck's two occupants abandoned the vehicle in an alley between Alward Street and Wainwright Street and fled on foot. A police service dog team was called in and for a few minutes the two were tracked over a number of fences and through residential yards until they were located in the 100 block of Carney Street without incident.

Lee remains in custody while Edgars was released on a $500 recognizance following an appearance in court on Thursday.
