Prince George RCMP are asking cashiers to be wary after receiving reports of counterfeit cash popping up at local businesses.

Two Caucasian men in their 20s are suspected of passing fake $100 Canadian bills.

The bills "may look legitimate at first glance, but are missing several security features," RCMP said.

"The bills were made using cut out clear windows from genuine $10 bills, the clear tape used to secure the clear window leaves a raised edge which can be easily be felt.

"Additionally, the large 100 numbers are not made of raised ink, the maple leaf window is not transparent, the metallic portrait on the large clear window does not match the portrait on the bill, and there are no raised dots to assist the visually impaired in identifying the denomination."

Cashiers are being asked to carefully check cash as it is passed, especially larger bills.

A Bank of Canada webpage fully describes these security features with accompanying photographs.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on where the suspects can be found is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
