Artists with connections to UNBC are being called on to create a new work of art for the university campus.

This project is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for the north's institute of highest learning, and the theme-line provided to inspire the art work is Interpreting Our Past, Envisioning Our Future.

UNBC officials announced this week they were "seeking artists, or artist-led teams, to submit proposals to create a permanent public art installation" with a cash provision of $10,000 to accomplish the work.

"This call for proposals is open to all members of the UNBC community (i.e. students, alumni, staff and faculty) to artistically interpret and celebrate the University of Northern British Columbia: its mandate, its 25 years within and for the north, its community outreach and impact, its future role in community and regional development and its green environmental focus," said a statement from UNBC organizers.

The submission deadline is Oct. 31. For guidelines and submission information, visit www.unbc.ca/25.
