The deadline to become a 2015 Canada Winter Games volunteer is nearing.

Those interested have until Dec. 31 to register and while 4,000 have already signed up, organizers are hoping for 4,500 by the time all is said and done.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the largest multi-sport and cultural event for youth in the nation - an opportunity that won't return to the province of B.C. for over two decades," volunteer workforce manager Christine Nicholls said.

There are opportunities for volunteers to lend their skills to the Games, which run from Feb. 13 to March 1, in a variety of roles, such as media services, spectator services, environment and fabrication.

"There is a role for everyone on Team 2015," Nicholls said.

To volunteer, visit www.canadagames2015.ca/volunteers or visit the Accreditation and Volunteer Centre located at Suite 205 - 1302 Seventh Avenue. The centre is open from noon to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and is closed from Dec. 24 to 28.
