Two men were sentenced Friday for their roles in a January 2013 home invasion.

Patrick Brody Gifford, 21, was sentenced to 607 days in jail and two years probation for one count of break and enter to commit an indictable offence and Kolt Collin Cardinal, 21, was sentenced to two years probation with a suspended sentence for the same offence.

The two were arrested on the night of Jan. 2, 2013 when police were called to a report of forcible entry at an Imperial Crescent home. None of the home's occupants were injured.

With the help of a service dog, two suspects were tracked over more than 12 blocks, across streets and through parks to the backyard of a residence on Acadia Place.

One was found hiding in a dark corner of the yard and the other in a shed and both suffered minor bite wounds after failing to comply with police commands.
