A truck and other items were stolen from the District of Fort St. James public works yard.

RCMP said the thief entered the yard at 1555 Stones Bay Road on Wednesday, shortly before 6 a.m. and used a crow bar to break into the shop.

A white 2003 GMC flat deck pickup truck, B.C. licence plate 5144XL, with District of Fort St. James emblems on the side and 04 in black decaling on each front fender was stolen.

Two or three large water pumps, two hand gas pumps normally attached to fuel drums, various Makita brand power tools and a large generator were also stolen.

The suspect's image was recorded on a surveillance camera.

"The quality is grainy, however police will be looking to enhance the quality in hopes of assisting with identification," RCMP said.

The suspect was wearing a light or white coloured jacket longer than waist length, a light or white baseball hat, dark coloured hoodie and light coloured jeans or pants.

The jacket is distinctive in that it is a darker colour around the shoulder area and on the sleeves from the elbows down, with a white or very light coloured reflective band across the middle of the back.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
