Trial date set for Quesnel man charged in Prince George teen's death

A Quesnel man facing charges related to the motor vehicle death of a Prince George teen will go to trial.

Proceedings will begin June 12 for Cody Robert Francis Dan, charged with impaired driving causing death after allegedly driving off the Nazko HIghway during the early morning of Aug. 16, 2012.

Dan's car was near Long Road where it down an steep embankment near, hit a large tree stump and burst into flames, according to accounts from the B.C. Coroners Service and the RCMP at the time.

Passenger Larry Dallas Barry Laurent, 17, died at the scene. Dan, who as 19 at the time, was taken to hospital in Quesnel for treatment of non-life threatning injuries following the incident.

He also faces counts of taking a vehicle without consent, driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08 and drunk driving.
